Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom said he directed Jakim to relay their findings to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for further action.
This follows the release of Maznah, better known as Chetz, at 1pm today by police after being remanded by the Segamat police for two days.
Her lawyer Latheefa Koya told The Malaysian Insider that Maznah was released "unconditionally" today at 1pm.
“I was told that the police had taken her to the court and placed her under a bond which requires her to come to court to give evidence,” she said.
“This is a wrong application as she is not a complainant, nor a witness. She was a suspect.”
Latheefa said she was not sure of other conditions or when Maznah was required to report to the police.
Maznah is being investigated under Section 298A of the Penal Code for causing disharmony among religions and the Sedition Act.
The Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek had yesterday said he had directed the MCMC to consult with Jakim to determine if the video is an insult to Islam, before proceeding to investigate.
“The issue raised here could be very sensitive to a majority of our citizens... we must see the background and get views of religious experts because I understand there are several differing views,” Shabery told reporters yesterday. - August 2, 2013.
